I was up until 6am this lovely Friday morning. More to do with some things happening on my comic blog and me working through them before sleep. (It had to do with continued comments from someone who'd expected me to be their magical negro and whether or not me reposting any and all comments they make to me constituted perpetuating an internet feud. I decided it didn't and posted my thoughts about it.)
Still woke up with my cranium throbbing, my chest hurting and my stomach going 'Feed me or beat me, pick one!'
I'm attempting to feed it.
I'm also aware that the lovely grey rain piss-trinkling down is responsible for both my mood and my pain. And as I refuse to give in to negativity during my BIRTHDAY MONTH - I am just going to have to adjust. I can get chocolate tomorrow, I have a kind of chocolate powered thing to make a kind of chocolate powdered drink in the house, also there are chicken breasts and potato. So foodage, oh you shall happen.
Also Zombie Mallet is one of the sweetest guys in the world and is currently THE sweetest guy in my life and on top of sending me his GLA comics for my birthday, has hunted down VHS of Starship Troopers: Roughneck Chronicles! It might not be the DVD, but it'll sure as heck beat worrying that the online sites hosting them will be shut down and ruin my ability to get my fix until I can afford to buy the 5 episode DVD's with extras and commentary for each Campaign.
Have I previously mentioned my utter love and adoration of Roughnecks? Cause there is some serious ass love there. So serious that when I couldn't find it online, I hunted down the Heinlein book and wow - I adored that too. Of course it meant I could no longer even remotely enjoy the Movie. Cause -ugh-
Dear Paul Verhoeven, I loathe you. The End.
Anyway, I even have the PC game on my computer. But uhm, my first attempt to play it, the sound was so loud and the first person perspective threw me so hard, I shot a commander in the back. I can laugh about it now, but wow, was I embarrassed and immediately stopped playing. Willow? Not a First Person Shooter Gamer. Nuh Uh.
Oh. Roughnecks, you could make me babble about you all the live long day - the amazing nature of your cgi animation, perhaps crude by todays standards but seriously cutting edge for your time and an obvious building block for what came after. Your talented voice acting. Your story telling - for something that showed in the mornings intended for kids before school, you managed to be mature without being unnecessarily scary. And for something intended to promote toys (or something, I have no doubt) there was character development and depth and meaning and pathos and just...
Oh Roughneck Chronicles, how I do so adore thee.
Ahem..
Yeah, I should cook. But I may come back and do more Roughneck's babbling. For it is my BIRTHDAY MONTH and RC makes me happy. I'll cut tag those though :)
Oooh! Screencap - > Iconage! I totally need an icon of Doc!

Any one?
You can do something about comics, art, whether or not poc voice actors are used for SF books on tape/cd/media. Something.

So I saw someone link to this early this morning and I said - Oh, it's SQL again.
Only it's not.
It's Robert. Fucking. Downy. Jr.
In BLACKFACE.
The link takes you to someone white who tells you why it's not offensive and if you find it offensive, you hate movies and actors.
I....
*sics giant flesh eating arachnids at them*
Oh Roughneck Chronicles, is there anything you CAN'T Solve?
(Private note: In RC, Johnny Rico isn't drawn as a white bread guy)
