Sesame St + Youtube
I was looking for "Down and down, up up and down again"

And instead found PUT DOWN THE DUCKY!

To say I am pleased is a serious understatement. Especially since this version has footage I've never seen before.

I find myself pondering "Chickens In The Trees" (FOUND IT!) and also if they changed the Intro again. They did when my sibs were little. It took me a while to warm up to the new footage and musical arragement.

And I found Ladysmith Black Mambazo's Alphabet " Amazing Beautiful Creatures Dancing, Exiting Forest..."

Cecile! - Up Down Over and Under AND I Wanna Be Me AND Brushin' Down The Doggies. Up Down was my Fav. Though.

Darn!

30 60 Mins later and I still haven't found it.

I remember the colour Red, and it was kind of Operatic. And had a group of people all dressed up going 'Down and down and down, up up and down again' as they marched up and down an incline, likely stairs. I thought it was Monsterpiece Theater but after searching, it doesn't look that way.

I'll keep looking. But I post now.

ETA: This post is primarily for [info]fickle who never watched Sesame St and for [info]gem225 who's likely to enjoy it. I figure the rest of y'all are far too grown up.

ETA2: Just to show how old I am... (ahem) This is my Sesame Street. That's my iconic (with me very wee). Everything after that involved change.

Eeee! "Put Down the Duckie!!" I was actually a little old for Sesame Street, but my sister wasn't and so I had a nice excuse to watch it.

And, since my ex had kids, I know that this version of the song with all the guest stars was done for a video that was a compilation of a lot of the show's music from the 80s.

I think they had some extra puppets when I watched it; the people I don't remember so well. I remember seeing it when I was very small; there was an episode or special called Follow That Bird! where Big Bird got kidnapped and that was very angsty. And I remember some of the animations, and Snuffy, and Bert and Ernie and Cookie Monster and Grover and Oscar and the Count... not sure if I remember Elmo from that time or if he was in it later. Also, when I was in primary school I used to see it if I was ever off sick, as it was shown around noon... We're getting a Northern Ireland version; I think it's going to be on pretty soon.

Also, did you ever watch Fraggle Rock? I found a very cheap DVD recently and it was a major nostalgia-fest. The really nice thing was the documentary with Jim Henson talking about their ideals for the show and what they hoped it would teach kids.

OMG FRAGGLE ROCK!

Dude. Will we all start listing childhood TV series now? I'd die from nostalgia.
