Because There's A Poor Tax
Should still be sleeping, but my mother called over an email I exhaustedly typed to her last night about Bank of America Shenanigans. While talking to her I found my own notes and realized the reason I didn't go through with switching banks is because the plumber invasion happened and I'd been unable to think beyond the basics.

I'm not gonna rush around like crazy right now though because I'm exhausted and in pain and liable to make a mistake

But so far MECU looks viable - though it won't enable me to have a second account primarily for online transactions.

ETA: I appreciate that my mom -made- herself get off the phone, because she realized all she'd be doing is cussing about the state of things and I didn't need the stress. Unfortunately I still feel stressed that stuff happened because I wasn't in a place to stay on top of things. And now I can't go back to sleep because my stomach's in a knot.

(Yep, same Jack from DW, I finally realised if I added your feed on DW it made things much simpler and I could just comment over here. I have a brain sometimes, honest)

Not-doing while you're in pain is much more sensible, good luck getting it done when your pain levels are lower. And I hope the knot unknots in time for you to get some useful rest.

S'not a matter of a brain as to whether folks wanted to deal with another account or not. I don't assume.

It is nice to see you. Hi!

And yeah, I got a nap which was very much needed and I've reminded myself several times now I can go sort things out on Friday if I'm up to it, if not there's next week and it will be ok. (Half the agitation was trying to call for some answers at 9am and being told the call center was closed between the hours of 8am and 4pm).

I would have, it just... didn't occur to me, I'd sort of been reading, and then I tripped over your feed while using the /network function on DW, and the stars and moon aligned, and here we are.

Wtf? Closed between 8 and 4??? Seriously? How does that make sense in a world of logic?

Sorry my bad. Only open between 8am and 4pm - and yet they kept telling me it was closed and disconnecting the call.

Ohhhhhh. OK, that makes slightly more sense - but yes, I've had that happen, usually it's been the local council "Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm" "It's 10am. On Tuesday." "Please hang up and try again later." "10am. Tuesday." "...you bastard. I hope next life you come back as a calculator. *Hangs up. With prejudice."

Switching banks or utility services or whatever can feel like such a huge deal when you're already overstretched by coping with all life's other shit. In our house we put up with an AWFUL pharmacy for... well, the bad service was a gradual onset thing, but it must've been about two years that the twice-weekly shit went on. Then finally my boyfriend bugged us into switching, and it turned out to be incredibly simple and resulted in service that actually lets me live my life and not panic about running out of dressings or meds or supplements.

That said, sometimes, as in your situation, it does indeed turn out to be stupidly difficult when you try it. I keep thinking that the weak link with a lot of these organisations is call centres and how the whole nature of that system leaves the customer feeling disempowered and irritated... if someone came up with an alternative that actually worked, it'd provide the impetus for change in the business community, but until then, it's a scary thing to organise a change. I've been holding back on calling the phone company for that very reason...
